Serponado: Semtrix Chases the Storm in Germany’s SEO Contest 2026
Eskimoz in Europe: A Tailwind for Digital Visibility
The digital marketing landscape is spinning faster than ever – staying visible takes strategy, technical excellence and international experience. Founded in Paris in 2010 by Andrea Bensaid, Eskimoz has established itself as one of the leading players in the European digital market. Since 2020, the group has pursued a determined internationalisation strategy and is now present in France, Spain, Italy, the United Kingdom and Germany.
The German market joined the family in spring 2024, when Eskimoz acquired the well-established SEO agency Semtrix – a move that would pay off in a rather spectacular way just one year later. More on that in a moment.
Semtrix: The Defending Champion from Düsseldorf
Semtrix is a household name in the German SEO scene. Founded in 2015 by Jan-Nicolas Kuhl, the agency serves clients across the entire DACH region – Germany, Austria and Switzerland – with a team of around 50 specialists based in Düsseldorf, Essen, Hamburg and Nuremberg, from tech start-ups to long-established brands. Its focus: tailor-made strategies rather than off-the-shelf solutions, covering SEO, GEO (Generative Engine Optimisation), paid search, technical audits, content strategy and transparent reporting, always with a dedicated point of contact.
GEO in particular is where Semtrix is ahead of the curve: in 2026, visibility no longer ends with classic Google rankings but extends to AI search systems such as ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google’s AI Overviews – a field the agency is systematically opening up for its clients, and experience that comes in handy in a contest, too.
And here’s the kicker: Semtrix enters the 2026 season as the reigning champion of the largest SEO competition in the German-speaking world.
SEO Contest 2026: A Whirlwind Called Serponado
Since 2020, the comparison portal Agenturtipp.de has hosted Germany’s biggest annual SEO contest. 2026 brings a first: the competition is now co-organised with Seobility, one of the best-known SEO tools in the DACH market. The principle remains beautifully simple – a completely invented keyword with zero search volume, zero competition and zero existing rankings is revealed, and every participant starts from scratch.
The starting gun fired on 9 June 2026, and the keyword of the seventh edition is a beauty: Serponado – a portmanteau of SERP and tornado. For three weeks, agencies, freelancers and in-house teams are now battling to claim the top spot in Google’s organic results for Serponado.

Twice at the Top: SommerSEO 2022 and Keywordkönig 2025
Semtrix doesn’t enter contests just to take part. In 2022, the team claimed its first title with the keyword “SommerSEO”, powered by a wonderfully creative landing page styled after classic teen magazines. In 2025 came the second triumph: with its “Game of SERPs” – a fantasy campaign built around the battle for the digital throne – Semtrix crowned itself Keywordkönig (“keyword king”) and won the contest for the second time.
That makes Semtrix the only agency with two titles, entering 2026 as the reigning champion. The mission is clear: defend the crown – and a hat-trick would be a first in the history of the competition.
Chasing the Serponado: The 2026 Campaign
For the title defence, Semtrix is switching genres: from fantasy epic to cinematic documentary. Under the title “Die Jagd nach dem Serponado” (“The Hunt for the Serponado”), the four-person team is staging the contest as a storm-chaser documentary that travels across Germany – always on the trail of the mysterious SERP whirlwind.
The campaign is built on:
- Episodic storytelling: a daily logbook and an SEO “weather forecast” document the hunt in real time throughout the entire contest
- A bespoke storm classification system: from S0 to S5, framing ranking movements as meteorological events
- Cinematic visuals around the storm-chasing crew and their expedition vehicle
- Technically clean SEO, targeted link building and agile adjustments as the competition unfolds
You can follow the hunt episode by episode on the team’s landing page for the Serponado SEO contest – right up to the finale on 30 June.
What’s at Stake
Beyond glory and visibility, 2026 offers prizes worth more than €20,000 in total – from Seobility agency plans and rank-tracking packages by keyword.com to Leadreader credits, a BVDW certificate, an SEO-Day ticket and a link-building workshop by Performanceliebe. The entire top 10 walks away with prizes.
Storm Warning for the SERPs
For Semtrix, the SEO Contest 2026 is more than a competition – it’s the stage for a historic title defence. Armed with the experience of two victories, the international firepower of the Eskimoz Group and a campaign that fuses storytelling with SEO craftsmanship, the team is heading into the chase. One thing is certain: the forecast for the Serponado SERPs over the coming weeks is decidedly stormy.
